FARM RUNNERS con't
Based in Hotchkiss, CO, they have been building lasting relationships with farmers since 2012. They enjoy helping new, as well as established family farms, find a market for their product while making it easier for consumers to access the amazing food grown here in Western Colorado. From mountain-town restaurants to farm markets and grocers, their customers are able to enjoy the bounty of farms throughout the region. Matt and Emma feel lucky to work with local farmers all across the Western Slope of Colorado, from Palisade to Paonia to Durango to Basalt, large and small, organic and conventional, to support local agriculture and local businesses.
Farm Runners includes a retail market, cafe, and a CSA, as well as being a wholesaler specializing in fresh farm products from local family farmers. They distribute food regionally, specializing in custom-harvested farm products serving the Roaring Fork Valley, the Grand Valley, North Fork Valley and Delta County, Crested and Gunnison, the Uncompahgre Valley and Telluride. Because they source their products exclusively from local farms, their product list is intimately tied to the changing seasons. They work with the farmers to extend their growing season and increase their supply of storage crops so that they can offer deliveries all year long.
According to Emma, “For us, local isn’t just a marketing catch-phrase, it’s a commitment to maintaining the connection between farmer and consumer. We facilitate this connection by building lasting relationships, both with customers and farmers.”
Their entire team has devoted their lives to farming and food. They have all spent extensive time working on farms, learning the business from the ground up and their collective experiences give them a distinct understanding of the local growing conditions, unique varietals, and the strengths of each of their producers. It has also won their team awards for both Good Food 100 Purveyor of the Year and Hotchkiss Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year.
In addition to their retail outlet, Farm Runners Station, in Hotchkiss, Farm Runners is proud to provide a CSA share of locally grown vegetables, fruits, and other goodies like honey, grains & beans, jams and more from small farms across the Western Slope of Colorado. Their CSA customers are supporting a myriad of small farms and enjoying a wide variety of organically grown (though not always certified), wholesome products each week.
